These are fab! A few tips to make them easier: smear softened foam cheese on the meat (intead of pickle), identify wrapped pickles back in fridge for well-nigh an hr and then cut. Use a diverseness of meats, pickles, and cheeses. Sweet pickle with a turkey wrap is tasty. Have fun & play with your nutrient!

these are SO skilful. My sister outset made them a few years back and although I am not a fan of dill pickles, I love this appetizer. I could eat them all the time. My personal favorite information technology ham - the thicker imported ham slices. I add a tad bit of horseradish to the cream cheese too. A recommendation then it isn't then messy. Dry out off the ham slices first and spead the cheese on the ham, not the pickles. Very piece of cake and YUMMY!!!
01/27/2003
Very good & easy app. I make other rolls like these using Buddig corned beef, cream cheese & chopped green onion. So what I did was chopped the pickle added it to the cream cheese & spread it on ii slices of Buddig dearest ham then rolled it. The guys always count on me making these, at present I have a little variety. Thanks Linda!

My grandma has been making a similar snack for years. But she calls information technology Dill Pickle Dip. Instead of putting the pickle in whole, she chops upward the pickles and mixes them with foam cheese, a little pickle juice and a dash of salt creating a dip. She sometimes spreads information technology across bolonga, but she usually serves information technology equally a dip with chips, pretzels, etc. It'southward been a staple in our family for years!!
08/29/2003
This is a great snack - always the first to go at a party! Spreading the foam cheese on the ham is much easier, I likewise put garlic powder on the cream cheese in one case information technology'southward spread on the ham - couldn't imagine it without the garlic!
09/18/2003
I've been making these since I was ten. We utilize thin deli-sliced ham, spread the cream cheese on the meat, and either cut into slices or serve them whole. They become faster than anything. They are simple to brand and incredibly delicious!
12/01/2003
Pretty proficient! I made one-half with ham and one-half with roast beef. I besides kicked it up a scrap by adding about 1 tsp each of Dijon mustard and horseradish to the foam cheese. They are very messy to prepare. I too simply used one viii ounce foam cheese versus the 2 packages. This was plenty of cream cheese. Can't imagine double the amount. Also more time consuming then expected.
12/07/2003
I've been making these for years and they are always well received. I apply the stale beef (rinsed and dried), spread the foam cheese on the beef and wrap big Claussen dills. I then refrigerate them so the cheese sets up and and so slice them into iii/4" slices. I keep the ends for "family eats" and serve the rest.
ten/24/2002
One of my roommates introduced me to this recipe awhile back and now all of our friends make it. We utilise sliced ham instead of beef and it is easier if y'all spread the cream cheese on the meat instead of the pickle. Everytime I bring this to a party, they are usually gone in seconds.
ten/26/2011
my family has been doing this ever since i was footling, so at least 30 years! nosotros utilise the rectangular shaped ham you become in the grocery store. it'due south best to pat the ham and pickles dry so they don't slide all over the place. nosotros Always smear the cream cheese on the ham, NOT the pickle. information technology would be too difficult that way! we also double the ham, so it goes ham, foam cheese, ham, cream cheese, pickle. it makes for a ameliorate ratio of ham to pickle in my opinion. one time they're all rolled upwards together, we stick them in the fridge for a few hours or overnight so that they'll be a lot easier to cut. these are then practiced!
12/05/2011
I like to employ a flavored cream cheese in this recipe. This works with whatever cafeteria meat you want, I like to use roast beef or deli ham. My family admittedly loves these.
01/19/2011
These were extremely tasty, and then easy to make! I made them for a work issue and they were gone very fast. Ane matter I practise recommend is to spread the cream cheese on the ham, which should exist patted dry as well every bit the pickles. Other than that, awesome recipe!
04/26/2007
I exercise this with ham, in the exact same fashion. I wrap my rollups in aluminum *tightly* and refridgerate overnight to make cut super easy. Information technology likewise helps if you stick the knife in the freezer before slicing.
xi/15/2002
This is a "kid approved" recipe. (at least in my house anyhow, but I don't hateful to generalize). In that location are no PICKY eaters here as my married man and my two immature beauties will swallow almost anything. (I'm so blest)! These were smashing, easy and versatile enough to add any seasoning or spice you desire to spice information technology upwardly. Thanks Linda; by the style; nice name. tee, hee!
10/29/2011
A few tips I learned the hard manner: It's of import to dry out off the meat before trying to spread the cheese on it, or the meat will tear. It's likewise of import to chill the entire wrapped pickles earlier slicing, or the meat volition pull off. I had a lot of trouble making these, so I don't know if I will attempt information technology again.
ten/23/2005
I've been making these appetizers for many years and it'south ane of my favorites. I add a trivial horseradish, garlic pulverisation and a drop of Tabasco to the foam cheese for season. One affair, tho....I am trying to imagine why anyone would attempt to smear cream cheese around a pickle when all you lot have to do is spread the cheese on the meat slice and roll the pickle upwardly in it. Different strokes, I guess. I've made these with roast beef, dried beefiness, ham and smoked turkey. My favorite is dried beef, but all are skilful.
10/xiii/2003
Fantabulous! Everyone loved them. But make sure they stay Cold or they are not good. We put them in a metal bowl and put that bowl in a larger bowl full of ice. I had no problems spreading the foam cheese on the pickles (I thought it was easier then spreading information technology on the meat because the meat just tore.) and then wrapping the ham. Definately goes in my recipe book!
xi/04/2006
I don't accept patience to spread foam cheese on a damp pickle so I did it in layers----offset the tortilla then place the meat on that - then more cream cheese on the meat and then the pickle. Less hassle only same bang-up results - these are a hit for any ocassion.
07/02/2008
I utilise a variation of this recipe. Instead of the sliced beef, I use stale beefiness from the deli, not the candy stuff in the lunchmeat department. Also, information technology is much easier to spread the foam cheese on the meat and so wrap it around the pickle. You can also use the soft foam cheese in a tub instead of the packaged cream cheese, just don't used the whipped cream cheese.
09/20/2002
Sounds awful, but tastes great. When I am pressed for time, I put the pickles through my food processor, add them to the softened cream cheese, and apply as a spread on sparse ham slices. Adding a little pimento zips information technology upwardly a petty too.
01/08/2003
I've fabricated these pickles a million times. I use pastrami slices for a bit of kicked up flavor. I've made them in a moment's notice by warming the foam cheese in the microwave a flake before. It definitely is easier to spread the cheese on the meat slices. The red and greenish arrive "festive" for the holidays.
02/12/2011
I constitute these at a become together and are absolutely amazing and addictive! Dry off a larger cut of ham, spread the cheese, add the pickle wrap and eat! NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM Thank you for the recipe Linda!

xi/04/2003
Good--but I recommend total-fatty foam cheese with this one. I tried the light stuff and information technology but isn't the same to me.
10/xvi/2003
I could not wait to try this recipe! I'll admit, the ingredients looked gross together, but my college roomate and I used to stay upward late and eat dill pickles with cheddar cheese all the time so I idea I'd requite it a try!! This wasn't as practiced as that, but it came actually shut!! I also spread the cream cheese on turkey and sprinkled information technology with some garlic salt. I also used plain dill pickles, next time I'll pick upward a jar of the zesty dill and meet if they come out a little improve!
04/26/2005
These are good, but even improve with a sweet gherkin pickle. It isn't equally "low carb" friendly that way, but the sweet pickle is a neat season with the salty meat. A lilliputian more difficult to assemble because of the tiny pickle, merely I only spread some foam cheese on each and then slice the meat into strips a piddling narrower than the pickle and wrap. No need to slice, i small gherkin is a perfect serving.
03/12/2009
These are REALLY addictive! My husband likes to brand these and he always uses stale beef. You better make a lot because they get fast!
10/30/2011

12/24/2006

09/26/2003

01/07/2007

04/21/2003

03/31/2009

11/13/2002
My girl loves these! I also make them wrapped in a tortilla...which is really good, and makes a nifty school lunch add-on!
02/26/2012
Love this recipe! I have been making them for a few years now and I use pastrami instead of ham (astonishing combo with the cream cheese and pickle). I as well melt the cream cheese a little to make information technology easier to spread and spread it on the pastrami instead of the pickle offset.
12/19/2002
I simply popped on to add together this recipe! My Mom made them over Thanksgiving and I couldn't stop eating them! They are admittedly addicting!! 05/24/2010
These were a pleasant surprise! 5 stars for ease of preparation & gustation that I retrieve would appeal to a lot of people (provided that they like pickles, of grade!) I made these this past weekend every bit a last-minute appetizer to add to my spread for a babe shower I hosted for a friend, & they got eaten upward! I used both roast beefiness & ham & I idea both were yummy, although I retrieve roast beef was preferred by more than people. 04/04/2007
I have been making these for years, afterwards hesitantly tasting one (and then some other, and another ...) at a company Christmas party. I apply sparse-sliced cafeteria ham (blotted dry) and spread softened cream cheese on that. And so I take a pickle spear (too blotted dry) and curl them upward. Air-condition for almost an 60 minutes, then slice. What a foreign concept, but oh then delicious! Thank you for posting this recipe!
08/27/2001
We telephone call these Pickle Dogs. We employ them equally appetizers at every occasion! They are so proficient and simple to make. I also use ham and spread the cream cheese on the ham and whorl the pickle up.

At that time about half of them are already gone from me picking thru them and eating them lol! And then addicting and delicious!
02/12/2007

These are slap-up for the pickle lovers!
12/12/2000

11/02/2007

03/12/2013
I have been making these since I was a kid. So that'southward been 25+ yrs :). Nosotros called them Frog Eyes. A few tips I have learned over the yrs I will pass on to you lot. 1st: Make sure your meat is not too thin. (if information technology is too thin information technology will tear when you are trying to spread the cream cheese) 2nd: Dry off the ham. This will make the cream cheese spread easier. third: Sweet pickles Stone with this combination. Either use the mini or the regular size and one-half those suckers. 4th: I have institute that a thicker layer of foam cheese tastes great. And brand sure you allow your cream cheese set out at room temp to soften up. This volition surely make those "Frog Eyes" jump right off the plate!!
02/19/2004
I made these for a political party and my guests just scarfed them upwards. Beware the recipe calculator--I bought way as well much cream cheese, and non enough roast beef. Putting the rolls together was a fleck challenging, I but used my hands and squeezed it all together.
